![]() | LOCATION SEARCH |   |
| Long term users of the Ryerson Index may recall that there used to be a facility to search for records which contained a specific location. This search was particularly valuable for local historians and others who have an interest in a specific area. Unfortunately various constraints within the system meant that it had to be discontinued. However Ryerson Index Inc decided to re-introduce this facility, but functioning in a different way. Instead of it being an on-line search it will operate by means of email requests which will be answered by a volunteer who will conduct an off-line search of a copy of the database. You may request a search for a range of years in up to 5 locations. For example a request may be for 2000 to 2005 in Milton and Ulladulla. This search would produce 580 results as at October 2011. The results will be provided as a simple Excel file containing surname, given names, date of death, age and all of the location fields (i.e. at, late of and formerly of). The first few of these results would look like this.
If researchers require further information such as the newspaper and its publication date they will need to make their own searches of the Ryerson Index for this information. To request a Location Search click here and put the necessary information into the email. | |||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
