GENERAL COMMENTS FOR THIS NEWSPAPER

Prior to 1985, death and funeral notices were published seemingly at random throughout the paper, without a clear heading of "Death Notices" or "Funeral Notices". Obituaries were rarely headed "Obituary". We have indexed those we have found.

An index to births, deaths, marriages and obituaries in the "Kiama Independent" 1863-1919 has been published on microfilm by the Kiama Family History Centre.

A sister paper, the LAKE TIMES, is a recent addition to the Weston stable. It is also published weekly, on Wednesday. The same death notices are published in common in both papers.

It appears there are no surviving copies of the issues dated:
1981: May 27th;
1982: August 18th;
1988: January 13th;
